Astro deliver Aruba wireless solution across TGI Friday’s estate.
In modern retail, customer convenience and security are key, and UK restaurant chain TGI Fridays relies on its Aruba wireless networks for both. That’s because the vast majority of its sales are by credit or debit card, and all card payments are now processed wirelessly and safely at the customer’s table.
TGI Friday’s chose Astro to deliver its Aruba wireless solution over three rival bids, mainly for its relative simplicity. In particular, Aruba’s Instant technology meant there was no need for a separate controller in each store; instead, the access points elect one of their number as a virtual local controller. They have a minimum of three IAP-105s in each store, with as many as seven or eight in larger stores. At the data centre is an Aruba AirWave Network Management Centre which communicates with the individual stores for management and centralised reporting. This means we can deploy an un-configured device and allow AirWave to send the configuration out to the AP so reconfiguration can be prepared prior to deployment.
Jeremy Dunderdale, head of IT for TGI Friday’s comments views Astro as a strategic partner’s to their organisation “Astro is very much our business partner” says. Dunderdale “We pretty much have a package now. With a new store, Astro gets a copy of the plans and recommends a number of Aruba access points based on those.
