At a dazzling ceremony at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel, Astro Technology Group shone the brightest of all as finalists for not one, not two…three Awards at the prestigious Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) Annual Dinner 2021 and 14th Annual Awards.
As the evening got underway, Astro went on to win two of the three Awards. First up was Nathan Lee, Service Desk Team Leader, who had been honoured for his achievements 2020 when he was crowned SME Apprentice of the Year and was finally able to collect his well-deserved trophy and certificate. Hot on his heels and making it two in a row for these impressive youngsters in the sector, was Jacob Whitby who was crowned Apprentice of the Year 2021 for the great work he has done since joining Astro.
Helping them on their road to success was Sarah Smith, Head of Service Management, who not only leads Astro’s first-class service desk, but has mentored and guided the young people in her team; her dedication was rewarded as she was recognised as a finalist in the much-coveted Outstanding Contribution to an Individual’s Development category.
Speaking of their success, Steve Hodges, CEO said, “The ITP is the most respected industry body in the sector and is the leading body for people who work in the telecommunications industry, so to be honoured and recognised by them is a fantastic achievement for these individuals and the Company as a whole. I am very proud of all the hard work they have put in to reach these heights. As the Astro team continues to grow, we always strive to deliver first class service to all our customers, large or small, and see the hard work that these three individuals have put in, alongside their like-minded colleagues, is extremely rewarding.”
This is the latest in a string of successes and developments for Astro in the last twelve months. Steve Hodges was recently crowned Director of the Year at the highly prestigious Institute of Directors Awards, this followed Astro being finalists in 2019 World Communication Awards first ever Culture Change Awards – an award that recognises organisations that are best progressing in transforming cultural attitudes throughout their business. 2020 also saw Astro shortlisted in the Comms National Awards, Positive Impact Category for CSR. Steve Hodges and Astro Co-Founder and CTO, Steve Smith have both been recognised for their achievements by receiving Honorary Fellowships of the ITP in recent years.
