Astro Technology Group is exiting 2020 in the same positive way it started, with yet another award success! Nathan Lee, Service Desk Team Leader, has been honoured for his achievements as he was crowned SME Apprentice of the Year at the prestigious Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) Awards 2020.
The ITP is the UK’s leading independent body for people who work in the telecommunications industry and winning this Award is testament to the progress Nathan has made since joining the company almost three years ago.
Nathan said, “It was such a strong field of finalists, I really wasn’t expecting to win and it took a few minutes for it to sink in! I’m thrilled to have been recognized as the SME Apprentice of the Year by the ITP but I couldn’t have done this without the support and encouragement of everyone at Astro. I have learned so much from so many of my colleagues over the last three years and I’m looking forward to new challenges and learning experiences as I progress in the company”.
Steve Hodges, Astro Chief Executive said of Nathan’s success, “Nathan is a fine example of a young person who is mature beyond his years but also maintains a great outlook on life, sense of humour and sense of fun. He has shown determination and professionalism at all times and his willingness to learn and develop is outstanding. The entire company is extremely proud that Nathan’s achievements have been recognised by an organisation as well respected as the ITP and we are excited to see Nathan continue to grow and flourish at Astro.”
CEO of The ITP Crissi Williams also added her thoughts to a number of industry big hitters with whom Nathan has made an impact. “We are thrilled that Nathan is the winner of our SME Apprentice of the Year Award. When we set up our scheme in 2013, it was with the aim of helping SMEs access apprenticeship talent and so we are so pleased to be able to recognise the exceptional work Nathan has put in.”
This is the latest in a string of successes and developments for Astro in the last twelve months. Steve Hodges was recently crowned Director of the Year at the highly world renowned Institute of Directors Awards, this followed Astro being finalists in 2019 World Communication Awards first ever Culture Change Awards – an award that recognises organisations that are best progressing in transforming cultural attitudes throughout their business. 2020 also saw Astro shortlisted in the Comms National Awards, Positive Impact Category for CSR. Steve Hodges and Astro Co-Founder and CTO, Steve Smith have both been recognised for their achievements by receiving Honorary Fellowships of the ITP in recent years.
