Corporate Social Responsibilities

Astro is committed to operating responsibly and undertakes a number of initiatives and practices to ensure that, wherever practical we function and behave with good corporate conscience.

Astro’s commitment to CSR falls into three main areas as follows:

STAFF

Our team are our biggest asset and we recognise that in a number of ways. Staff are provided with training, coaching and mentoring and are given the opportunity to develop. Active supporters of the National Apprentice Scheme Astro are committed to growing the next generation of technical talent and business leaders. The company also supports a number of social events with a mix of staff events and staff and partner events.

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

In recognition of our environmental responsibility Astro ensure that wherever possible the impact of travel is kept to a minimum using conferencing and video conferencing facilities as a preference. When travel is undertaken staff are activity encouraged to travel via the most environmentally sensitive means. From public transport to car sharing. Astro also have an active recycling policy and ensure that our partner organisations also adopt environmentally sensitive practices.

SUPPORT OF GOOD CAUSES

Astro support a number of local and national good causes through either financial support or through staff members giving up their time. Detail of some of these can be found below.

Astro take both policy and practical steps to ensure that the behaviour of the business represents best practice in these areas.

Camp Cando

Astro have supported Camp Cando for a number of years both in a fundraising capacity and by providing volunteers for the duration of camp to look after the young adults who benefit from the time way. Taking a fully involved role members of the team from the CTO and founder to new apprentices get involved in the week, being residents on camp and getting involved in every aspect of support.

From a fundraising capacity Astro have achieved thousands of pounds of donations through a range of activity from running half marathons to corporate donations.

Kent Bright Sparks

Astro fully support Kent Bright Sparks as a corporate sponsor and by being on the judging panel for the final of the event. Astro have also provided a prize for the finalists.

Astro believe very strongly in helping youngsters in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and Bright Sparks is a brilliant vehicle for that. Astro also run a full apprenticeship scheme and get involved in work experience placements for local schools.
